To my wonderful patients,

It is with mixed emotions that I share that I am leaving Virginia Women’s Center to focus on family and faith, effective immediately. I don’t know what’s next in my life journey, but I have no immediate plans to establish gynecological clinical care elsewhere.

It has been my absolute privilege and honor to get to know you and care for you over the years. I have had the opportunity to deliver your babies, perform surgeries, counsel and help you live your life to the fullest. I am humbled and incredibly grateful that you have allowed me to be a part of your life’s journey. It has been a true gift and I thank you.

I recognize that it is difficult to change healthcare providers. I am confident there is another Virginia Women’s Center physician or nurse practitioner that will match your personality and healthcare needs. If you are one of my patients who prefers a provider that looks like you, Virginia Women’s Center will continue to search and recruit physicians to ensure a diverse workforce. Provider biographies and videos are available in the “Your Care Team” section on virginiawomenscenter.com. If you would like assistance in choosing a Virginia Women’s Center provider, call 804.288.4084 and let them know how best to help you during this transition period.

Please know that your medical records are safely on file and remain confidential, as per state and federal law. If you continue with Virginia Women’s Center, which is my hope, there is no action required. If you elect to seek care with a physician outside of Virginia Women’s Center, our team will work with you to make the transition as seamless as possible.

I am honored to have known each and every one of you, and I am a better person for it. I wish you all the very best and can’t wait to share stories when we meet again.

With gratitude,

Karen W. Jefferson, MD
