D&C

LEEP
When a PAP smear indicates that you have abnormal cells on the surface of your cervix, your doctor may recommend a loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP). An electrically charged thin wire loop is used to remove a small piece of the cervix with precancerous cells.
Colposcopy
If you’ve had an abnormal PAP smear, your doctor may recommend a colposcopy to look for abnormal or unusual cells on your cervix, vagina or vulva. If she finds anything unusual, a sample goes to the lab for further evaluation.
