“Women’s healthcare is complex and nuanced, and women deserve a provider who will listen, explain and work with them toward a common goal.”  Catherine DeTeresa, MD

VWC is thrilled to welcome Dr. Catherine DeTeresa to our West End office!  She delivers babies at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital.

Dr. DeTeresa knew she wanted to be a physician in high school, but it wasn’t until her women’s health rotation in medical school that she found her true calling. As an OB/GYN, Dr. DeTeresa feels privileged and honored to guide women through pregnancy and birth, help them medically or surgically with gynecologic problems, and support them through the many physical changes and challenges they will experience in their lifetime. Her goal is to leave every patient feeling heard, understood, and empowered about their health.

Dr. DeTeresa is passionate about contraception and sterilization counseling, trauma-informed gynecologic exams, VBAC counseling, and minimally invasive surgery.  She is exceptionally skilled in da Vinci Robotic surgery,

If she hadn’t been an OBGYN, Dr. DeTeresa might have been a photojournalist. She loves the idea of capturing moments and stories. When she’s not working and caring for patients, Dr. DeTeresa loves cooking, traveling, and cultivating her large indoor garden. She loves the outdoor life in Richmond, especially along the river trails. When she’s not hiking trails or kayaking the James, you may spot her trying a new brewery with friends and loved ones!
