Meet Hameeda A. Naimi, MD, a passionate and dedicated OB/GYN at the Near West End location of Virginia Women’s Center. Dr. Naimi’s journey into medicine was sparked by a deeply personal experience—a family member’s healthcare incident at a young age. This event instilled in her the profound impact that a kind and caring clinical team can have, igniting her desire to provide the same level of compassionate care to others.

Surrounded by women her entire life—being the second of four sisters—Dr. Naimi has always cherished the wisdom and strength she gained from these relationships. Her mother and sisters have been the most formative influences in her life, shaping her understanding of the kind of care, respect, and service she wants to provide to women and their families. For Dr. Naimi, obstetrics and gynecology is the perfect field, offering a global and essential skillset that supports women through all stages of life. She values engaging in ongoing conversations about our ever-changing bodies and healthcare needs.

Dr. Naimi is deeply committed to providing unbiased, quality reproductive healthcare. Her passion lies in empowering her patients ensuring they feel safe, heard, and engaged in their health care decisions. In April 2023, Dr. Naimi had the privilege of traveling to Bethlehem in the West Bank to learn from and provide maternity care at the Holy Family Hospital. This experience, centered on community-driven maternity care, left a lasting impact on her, and she is grateful for the opportunity to have learned from the residents and attendees there.

Dr. Naimi particularly enjoys working with adolescents and first-time GYN patients, guiding them through their concerns and discussing realistic contraception plans and goals. Creating a safe space for patients to discuss their backgrounds, symptoms, and healthcare priorities openly is a top priority for Dr. Naimi.

Outside work, Dr. Naimi loves cooking for her family, catching up on the latest movie releases, and exploring new running and hiking trails. With her family nearby and the city’s walkability and multicultural atmosphere, Richmond has become a beloved home for her.

Dr. Naimi is also proud of her Afghan heritage and speaks fluent/native Pashto and fluent conversational Spanish. She is happy to use both languages to help patients feel more comfortable during their visits. Dr. Naimi’s goal is to provide individualized care that empowers her patients to take an active role in their overall health—body and mind.

Dr. Naimi is excited to join the Virginia Women’s Center team and looks forward to partnering with you on your health journey. Call today to schedule an appointment with Dr. Naimi!
