Miev “Mia” Carhart, DNP, WHNP-BC, is a board-certified women’s health nurse practitioner who provides individualized, compassionate, and evidence-based care, partnering closely with her patients to support their health at every stage of life.

Originally from Cambodia, Mia and her family spent time in a refugee camp in Thailand, where some of her earliest memories include seeing the Red Cross as a symbol of safety, care, and hope. That early experience shaped her lifelong commitment to service and drew her to medicine and helping people in need. Her passion for women’s health grew through her labor and delivery experience and her own personal health journey, where she experienced firsthand the frustration many women feel when resources, education, or advocacy are lacking. That experience continues to fuel her dedication to empowering women through knowledge, support, and compassionate care.

Before entering civilian practice, Mia proudly served in the United States Air Force, where she cared for women in diverse and dynamic settings around the world. Her military career took her to Japan and Germany and required frequent relocations, giving her a deep appreciation for each patient’s unique background, values, and lived experiences. Service remains at the core of her practice—listening closely, educating thoroughly, and showing up consistently during vulnerable moments.

Mia is especially passionate about helping women navigate transitions, including reproductive health, pregnancy, postpartum changes, and perimenopause and menopause. She strives to ensure every patient leaves feeling heard, respected, and confident in their care, with a clear understanding of their health and next steps. She values building long-term relationships and considers it a privilege to be trusted during some of the most important moments in her patients’ lives.

Outside of work, Mia enjoys gardening, learning about plants (including attending a rain barrel workshop), reading, and traveling. She grew up in Richmond and is excited to be back, exploring how the city has changed—especially the restaurant scene. She and her husband met at the University of Virginia and have three children, each born in a different place during their military years—Germany, Colorado, and Hawaii. After moving every few years, they are thrilled to finally call Richmond home.
