Alex C. Vaclavik, M.D., is a highly regarded obstetrician-gynecologist who provides compassionate care to patients at Virginia Women’s Center’s West End location.

Dr. Vaclavik is experienced in all aspects of obstetric and gynecologic care, with a special interest in high-risk pregnancies, particularly those involving multiples. He is also dedicated to helping expectant mothers achieve vaginal births after cesarean sections (VBACs). In addition, he is skilled in minimally invasive surgical techniques, including hysteroscopy and laparoscopy. Dr. Vaclavik is fluent in Spanish, allowing him to connect with and better serve a diverse patient population.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and his medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. He then returned to Washington, D.C., to complete his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Georgetown University Hospital, where he was honored with the Mother of Pearl Teaching Award. After residency, he remained at Georgetown as a faculty member in the OB-GYN practice.

Outside of work, Dr. Vaclavik and his wife stay busy with their three young children—a son and two daughters. He enjoys running, rowing, cooking, and traveling in his free time.
